A variety of books by the Beam family are seen on display at The Red Door Books in downtown Mebane the afternoon of Saturday, Sept. 9. D.W. Beam, A.M. Beam, and Jaylin Beam were on hand to sign copies of their various books.

On the afternoon of Saturday, Sept. 9, local authors D.W. Beam, A.M. Beam, and Jaylin Beam made their way to The Red Door Books in downtown Mebane for a book signing, which was held in conjunction with Reed’s Coffee and Art. The Beams signed copies of their various books, including D.W. Beam’s latest release, Planeterial, and engaged in conversation with local book lovers.

“We really enjoyed our visit to Mebane,” Beam said. “I made friends with Mr. Orin Shepherd at The Red Door Books, and he set up the event for us at Reed’s. The people there were really nice and made us feel very welcome, along with everyone we met while we were there. Everyone was very encouraging about our books and our art work. All of our cover designs and illustrations are created by our family. We are hoping to come back to Mebane for some more events soon.”

The Beams are residents of King, North Carolina, near Winston-Salem. The family has written a series of books on topics including science fiction and religion.

Planeterial, which started shipping to customers on August 10, is D.W. Beam’s story of a fascinating intergalactic journey by the book’s protagonist.

“In search of a planet suitable for life as it once was on Earth, the Planeterial sets out on a voyage through space that ends tragically on a hostile planet,” reads a review of the book on the author’s website, dwbeampublishing.com. “Is this the end of the Planterial? Or is it a new beginning?”

D.W Beam has written multiple other books, including a series titled “The Adventures of Kimball McRyan,” while his 17 year-old daughter Jaylin has penned a series titled, “The Mark of a King,” and A.M. Beam has written a title called, “Faith’s Journey West.”

“Fourteen year old Trever had only dreamed of dwarves, elves, dragons, and great battles, but when the war comes to Trever’s home, he finds himself thrown onto a path he did not want but one that he knows he must walk to find the truth about both himself and those around him,” reads a review of Jaylin Beam’s “The Mark of a King” series.

“At first, eleven year-old Faith has mixed feelings about her family’s decision to leave their home and everything they have ever known, but she soon becomes excited,” reads a review of Faith’s Journey West. “She can’t wait to see what adventures await! Join her family as they embark on the journey of a lifetime, a journey west!”

The Beams also conducted recent book signings in Rockville, Maryland and McLean, Virginia in mid-September.
