KING — D.W. Beam Publishing has recently started a new children’s book division, “A Story To Tell.” The first two titles, just released, are “Star’s Song” by Amy Beam and “The Moon’s Race” by her daughter Jaylin Beam, both from King.
Jaylin Beam, 20, wrote and illustrated her book, which is about the relationship between the moon and the sun. Amy Beam also illustrated her book as well as wrote the text. It’s about a small bird who loves to sing.
A third title will be released next month. “Dizzy Dizzy Desmo” is by an author from California, R.L. Weiss, illustrated by Jessica Lentz, and is the story of a young tire on an Indy race car.
These titles are full-color 8×10 picture books. The authors met with their readers on Saturday outside Wisteria Coffee, signing copies of their books.
Husband/father D.W. Beam also has a new science fiction book out called “Adrift.”
“We’re working with two other local authors to get their work out,” said Amy Beam on Saturday.
“There’s a lot of potential in King,” Jaylin added. “It’s cool to be working with so many local authors.”
Beam books are sold in bookstores in the region, including The Arts Place in Danbury, and online.
